GALVESTON — The extreme Texas drought has electricity providers for the first time hiring helicopter crews to spray-wash salt, sand and other contamination from transmission towers.

For the unsuspecting, seeing a man dangling some 20 feet below a helicopter flying over the Newport River high-rise bridge Monday morning may have been just a little disconcerting.

August 2010 — Air2’s Emergency Response Team is called upon to restore damaged 230 kV transmission lines for Nebraska Public Power District. Approximately 32 miles of power lines and 218 structures were damaged by a storm that had wind speeds between 70 and 100 miles per hour. Read the full article: Electric Energy Online

April 2010— LCRA news crews joined us on this beautiful spring day. They captured some incredible footage of Air2 maintaining the lines. Traditional bucket trucks would not only take much longer to accomplish the same task but would also create some environmental damage. Land owners loved this method. See for yourself.
